Badger's "Brittains" thread also reminded me of Timpo soldiers. Anyone else remember them?

I used to love them as a kid, you could swap and interchage change the bodies, legs, heads, headgear and weapons, and the possibilities were almost endless. They made for hours of fun.

Eventually they all ended up in my parents' loft, where they remained for over 2 decades. Then at some point (either the very late '90s or early '00s) my mother started bending my ear to clear all my old crap out of her loft, so one time on a visit "back home" I did so. There were two large carrier bags crammed full of Timpo soldiers - plus various accessories such as wagons, canoes, wild west buildings - and I just mercilessly binned the lot.

Not long after that I discovered eBay, at which point I also discovered that Timpo soldiers were "collectors' items", some of which sold for daft money. Expensive lesson learned.

"Swoppets" by Britains, brilliantly detailed , separate pistols, swords, etc. Timpo did quite a range of Napoleonics, British, French and Prussians. I cut my teeth on paint conversions of those, after saving my pocket money, and small fees for being a choirboy at weddings and funerals[ Oh, yes!] I believe you can still get Timpos unpainted;.. I've seen them around, but can't quite recall where. Maybe the Toy Soldier Show at Islington.
Britains were always pricier, Swoppets, and the earlier Herald models, but they were good sculpts, well detailed to my young eyes.

Choirboy Alan? You're a scary dude..,

Ive got two large suitcases full of Britains, Herald and Timpo cowboys and Indians, military, ACW and AWI in my parent's loft! Some still in boxes, much cherished at the time! There are also Corgi and Dinky cars, still boxed!

Maybe my retirement fund....?!(y)

The Arab collection represents one of each pose and common colour variation, and some of the camel mounted Arabs are very rare colour variants.
The Roman chariot is probably the most valuable single piece.

I have britains, timpo, marx ( large scale figures) corgi, britains Zulu series, display cases, artillery of various makes, and want to sell the lot./badger. as my wife will be sixty soon, she only looks forty. I also have my 9/11 medal, which after 9/11 anyone who has served as a paramedic for over 5 years on A/E was presented with this medal due to the high number of paramedics killed on 9/11,representing the high risk that paramedics face on front line duties. as my wife will be sixty soon and I don't have any money to treat her for her birthday, I am willing to sell it,if anyone is interested please contact me/badger
