Granted, I wasn't here on pF yesterday but...............while eating breakfast in the lobby of a hotel I thought I'd pose a question to eveyone there with me. I asked "Does anyone know what's so special about today?" The looks I got was dumbfounding! A few even asked if it was my birthday or anniversery. Then ONE (!!!!!!!!) older gentleman sounded off in the back. "Today is a day that will live in infamy". Only a few understood then. "It's Pearl Harbor Day!" I said rather upset. It completely amazed me at One, the fact that no one could remember one of the two blackest days in our young country's history ( The other being 9/11). After all, it did launch us into WWII. Then Two, the fact that no one cared. When you consider the magnitude of what happened in both personal and emotional loss, and the fact that, like it or not, Dec. 7, 1941 forever changed the world. Very few days in this Earth's history have that distinction and yesterday was one of those days. Incredible............simply incredible!

Jim-

Interesting comment and I had a similar experience myself...

Myself and a group of co workers were returning from our factory in Tijuana (by car) and I noticed the US flag at the Customs and Immigration facility was at half mast. I said that I thought it was because today was Pearl Harbor day. All my coworkers said was "oh yeah, today's December 7th".

Quite sad. I wonder if the next generation will remember it at all or if 9/11 will end up the same way. :(
