Some will consider this a bit off topic, but good sculpting is good sculpting. Walking around Toronto on a recent trip, I stumbled upon the Boer War Monument. The sculptor was Walter Allward, RCA. Hope you like it.

All the best,
Dan

Dan, Great stuff. Pictures like this make excellent references for the budding/seasoned sculptor alike.

Jeff, Man that is great. I can see it (done right) in miniature being an award winner. ~Gary

Dan very inspirational work, thanks.

Jeff great idea, here's my contribution with a question I hope can be answered.
The first pic is the Virginia Memorial at Gettysburg.
The second could be Shiloh , Antietam, Chancellorsville or any one of several more sites I visited during a 4 week Acw fest a few tears back, please help.

Cheers Ken

Guys..
love it,..bookmarked for the future ideas....

dont stop here more please..Phil..

Hey...if anyone really is interested in doing something like the Canadian soldiers on the monument, I took about 50 photos of them in all. I have other stuff in progress right now and won't do anything with this right away. If a sculptor is interested, drop me a PM with your e-mail address and I'll send them to you in reduced size batches.

All the best,
Dan

Interesting, I never knew there were Canadians troops deployed in SA during the Anglo-Boer War. Then again at school in SA history always focused on the Boer victories and not the "evil" British :D

Great stuff Dan , My great-grandfather served in the Boer War ,27th Battalion, CEF Royal Winnipeg Rifles 1899–1900 and WWI (he signed up when he was 16) I'd like to see some more of the photo's you took ;)

Sorry I don't remember the streets. I was there for a convention and staying in a hotel. There is a large hotel prominently shown in the photo and there is a dance theater just across the street. It's about 6 blocks from the Elephant and Castle pub. North of most of the business district. Northeast of the convention center about 10 blocks. There was a park to the east of the monument and a Legal Society building of some kind nearby. Northwest of the big indoor mall. Does that help any?

All the best,
Dan
