Not sure if this is a global thing, or just a moment affecting Canada, but various art suppliers I deal with all echo that trade issues with countries that are main sources for the best sable has affected supply of Winsor&Newton series 7...

this isn’t about what brushes people may favour..rather that one of the more well known brands is getting scarce. I’ve looked at PK pro and they are running out..of course there are other brands..but Broken Toad seems to be low or out of some products...

might be time to scrounge around as the worlds disarray is unlikely to fall back into place any time soon

There has been issues with high quality sable for some time now. That's why sable costs as much as it does.

BrokenToad have been in the process of various changes with the company now based in the EU and in the UK. New web site launched recently too. But the only brushes that are out of stock for them are some of the Fugazi which is their synthetic range.

I'm not noticing much of an issue in the UK though to be honest. Maybe it depends on the store you are buying from as W&N and BrokenToad both ship from the UK I believe and we're not adjusting greatly to the new export/import rules.

I bought remaining 0 from delta art here..and some 1, 3 from pk-pro. I’ve known of the issue as well, but seems at least for Canada things are screwed for time being..I’ve been buying and using happily Broken Toad mk3..but still like W&N. it’s all personal of course..Rosemary, Raphael...however in days where trade barriers happen all too readily, am trying to stock up..
things will adjust- and cost more!
thanks Steve..

For fine detail, lines and glazes. A traditional round shape is ideal for use when accuracy and detail is required. Unfortunately at this time we cannot ship these brushes to Canada

Why on earth would you buy a Kolinsky size 12 at $460 for modelling when you could get a makeup brush for a few bob

That is without doubt the stupidest comment to date..that’s the price list..people use them and buy them in those sizes for watercolour painting..I hope you weren’t being serious?

Well I got the impression you were buying them for modelling which would be just nuts

Hi Guys

As said brushes are a personal thing , issues with W&N have been often raised and I feel the quality has gone down

The shipping issues at now only the tip of what's to come in my thought so like yellowcat stocking up ...might try those Raphael

Hope you get the brushes sorted

I've found a good source of quality brushes from India and use them for all of the basic work and keep my quality brushes for the detail work.

I've been slowly stocking up on series 7. Raphael, rosemary and awaiting a shipment from rubloff.

No chance of prices going down.

So did I......which, I suppose, makes us both a pair of old duffers. Can't help thinking though that
anybody paying through the nose for such a brush - whether a water colourist or not - still thinks
that if they pay more money for their kit, they automatically become better painters..........

Try Case art or Jacksons Keith ,I only ever own no more than two Series 7. 00 minis at a time with only the resave in detail condition and the other heading towards the blending pot , as for the rest synthetic filberts and wedge do the trick and a large to medium makeup blusher when the wifes not looking :D

I have hundreds of Kolinsky brushes..yes, hundreds !
from every maker out there .. I have been 'collecting' them for years
If I have the time after COVID, I will publish a review of them and try to show the differences between the brands because they all behave differently.

I have one serviceable 00 WN mini and 3 synthetic filberts one of which is heading for the terrain only jar and thats it :D
