AuthorSculpt has finally released their long awaited Trapper / Mountain Man in 75mm resin. Sculpted by the extremely talented Sergey Zlobov this kit depicts the American Mountain Man in his glory days of the early 1800's.

Packages in a sturdy book form box the kit is layered with foam to ensure against breakage during shipping.

All of the small parts are sealed in zip-lock bags to also ensure against loss during shipping.

Above is the completed kit prior to painting showing the different sides and the resin base.

The Trapper

Above you see the main torso of the trapper with his head and fur hat cast with the body.

Above are some close-ups of the torso / body section showing the attention to detail Sergey has sculpted into the Mountain Man.

Above are several views of the fringed buckskin arms with the left hand attached to the left arm. The right hand is cast with the rifle.

Above is the separate cast rifle with right hand as well as the saddle bags.

Above is a grained deer antler showing the actual grain of the antler. The feather for the Trapper's hat is also shown.

Above you see both sides of the stirrups and the canteen. Strapping is provided with a sheet for the canteen, stirrups and reins.

The above top photo shows the saddle and the quirt. The bottom 2 photos show the skinned beaver pelts stretched out on willow hoops as well as the lariat and war axe that fasten to the saddle.

Above is the front and rear of the bedroll / saddle blanket that goes behind the saddle.

The Horse

Above is the horse's head that will fasten to the chest of the horse without a seam to fill.

Above you see the right and left side of the horse as well as the inside where you will notice locator tabs and corresponding holes for proper fitment.

Above you see the assembled horse from different angles. This is all dry-fitted onto the resin base.

Above is the separate cast tail.

Above you see the underbelly of the horse with just a small amount of filler needed to smooth out the body. On the bottom photo you see the horse halves from the top showing an area from the saddle blanket to the tail that will need to be sanded and filled.

Above is the resin cast base. When dry-fitting the horse to the base for photographs the fit of each hoof was perfect.

Above is the color guide furnished with each kit showing the colors and bead work design suggestions.

Conclusion:
A fantastic kit depicting the American Mountain man. Minimal clean-up of parts needed. Minimal filling sanding required. An excellent mounted kit in 75mm. Highly recommended plus.

"Long awaited" trapper, Now who do you think would have written something like that? This review must have been tourture for you Guy. To think you had to stop and actually take pictures of this kit and not get straight to paintin'!!!!!! Can't wait to see your brushes work their magic here, beautiful piece indeed.

Very nice review Guy on this fantatic mounted figure. I received mine a few days ago and made my mind up that this will be one I do this year for my own private collection, beautiful sculpture/casting and worth evey pound.

Thanks guys. I know you will enjoy painting this figure. It is one of those figures that will keep you up working late. You just hate to stop once you get started.
