I really need to do a better job of transporting my figgers from show to show (the ol' shoe box is getting pretty tattered...just kiddin! )...does anyone have a set of "plans" that they would like to share with us for a wooden travel box...?
Thanks

You might want to take a look at Mario Fuentes's article in Historical Miniature #26. He shows how to convert a cheap $10.00 tackle box into a case for carry figures that fits easily under an airline seat for travel. I tried it and it works great!

Hi

My dad made mine, he makes my bases too, what we did is drill holes in teh bottom of a wooden box he built, then he puts a threaded hole in my bases and a bolt goes through the base of the box into the figure base, witha a wing nut on they go nowhere., holds em dead still.

Patrick,
I purchase boxes at Mailboxes etc. in which I can store each figure - for a 54, for instance, I go with a 4x4x6. That'll give me room to remove the figure. How do I secure it to the box? Easy - VELCRO. Cut out 4 small pieces of the fuzzy side to stick to each corner of your base, and then stick a pad (about the size of the base) of the coarse side to the box. Push the base onto the coarse side of the velcro and it isn't going anywhere. You can easily remove the figure and use the box as a riser for your display (of course, covering it all with a velvet cloth ;) ). Jst don't put too much of the fuzzy side onto your base or you'll have one hell of a time removing it from the box.
Now, how to carry all these boxes? Easy - in your carry-on suitcase. I use a carry-on suitcase with hard sides (you know some doofus is going to bang into it sooner or later). That way I know I can carry it on board regardless of the airline, and it won't raise suspicions going through security as a wooden box could.

Catch you later, amigo!
