Hi,

This is my 2nd figure i've painted, the figure was slightly converted to match the scene. this one was a lot of fun to do. It took gold at a dutch competition last week.

Sorry for the somewhat blurry picture. i'll see if i can make some better ones.

I also want to thanks Marijn and Gino for their comments to further improve my painting skills. Thanks Guys

Have fun

Prima Raymond.
Was het bij de TWENOT dat je het goud haalde???
In ieder geval genoeg aktie en goed geweatherd om het op zijn Nederlands te zeggen.
Erg mooi.

Ray,
clever subject, and nicely executed. I like the action and pose of the figure allot. I think he could use just a bit more highlight and shadow over all but the weathering is spot on. Keep up the good work!

Raymond, Nice job on what is only your 2nd figure. The uniform color looks very good, a little more highlighting would make it even better. I also like what you've done with the dirt on his uniform and boots.~Gary

Raymond,

First congrads on your Gold. I really like the whole idea of this figure, almost a mini vignette. I like the movement in the figure, the touch of the dogs tags flying up and you did a really good job tying the ground work in with the figure. I think we are all in for a treat if this is only your 2nd figure, can't wait till the 5th one!

All the best,

Joe

Thanks guys but this is way to much for me... (Blush) Just learning from other people and try to adopt some techniques and have as much fun as i can get painting the figures.

Yes Marc, it was at the Twenot Show wich was held last weekend....

Basically the figure is a Hobby fan figure wich i changed only a little bit to fit the scene. I found the groudwork very hard to do and i've learned a lot on do's an dont's. I visited AMSS last sunday and got some good feedback on how to work on future groundwork.

The whole idea came sort of from Marijn's snakenbite, i really like the action in the scene the way this is presented. I kinda changed the idea along the way, i wanted to have the GI step into a punji steak at first but found that to difficult to execute so i changed the scene into the tripwire idea. The punji steak idea is not gone but i want to practice a lot more before i'll do another GI in Nam..

As for the comments on the weathering, this is all done with Humbroll paint, i placed very diluted humbroll paint on the most obvious places (knees, ellebows etc...) on the knees i've put about 4-5 layers of paint varying the color (darker, light, somewhat less diluted) The boots recieved the same threatment and i used the same colours on the groundwork.

Kevin : i did not used any reference on the uniform or if it's correct, i just painted the figure. so i do not know if the uniform does entirely represent a correct Nam era GI.

Again many thanks for all your comments...

Thanks Ray

ahh so much ideas, so much to learn and so little time
