This is the latest bust from Troop54 and I know this has been done before but this is my take on it.
I have removed the GR from the centre of the shako plate and sculpted the figure of Britannia, the Regimental badge of the 9th (East Norfolk) Regiment of Foot. The Regiment served in the Peninsular war from 1808-10. The regiment were involved in the burial of Sir John Moore and to this date wear a black patch on the Regimental beret.
I have painted the face in oils as I don't feel confident enough to paint a large surface in acrylic's.

Undercoating so far,I am hoping to paint a faded red tunic and battered stovepipe shako.
Stay safe

Looks great. Don't apologize for using oils! They are a go-to for many of us, and I'll take them over acrylics any day! More than one way to skin a cat, as they say :)

I started painting in Oils and is my go to on large figure's. I some times find it easy to paint uniforms in acrylic. :)
