This will keep the napoleonic fans very happy. Great work from Antonio as always.

These are superb releases. No doubt about it. Also, great to see a figure depicted in a seated position. I've said for years, our figures must be knackered - they're never sat down.

Great idea to do this small vignette about the defence of Hougoumont - as someone living near Nassau I sadly miss more Nassau troops doing exactly the same thing. But of course the vignette looks marvellous and my Nassau project has to be done by scratch one day....

But wasn't the Nassaueer near La Haye sainte?

But wasn't the Nassaueer near La Haye sainte?
That is correct. Without trying to overexaggerate the role of the Nassau troops they were put in several crucial positions during this battle. At Hougoumont they were placed with their light troops in the woods in front of the chateau and blocked the route of the main attack by defending the wall and the east gate (the south gate is shown in the pictures above) while elements of the British Guards flanked the French in front of this wall from the rearward buildings (rear to the main route of the French assault) and by this drew their attention to another gate (the north gate) that became part of a desperate fight when the French broke the gate. Further Nassau troops were sent to support the garrison of the Kings German Legion at La Haye Sainte and others played a crucial role in the defence of Papelotte. In brief they were engaged at the right and left flank and in the center of the Allied Position. No other contingent has a similar record of this battle. But Nassau was part of the Netherland contingent and neither Wellington and Britain nor Prussia or Bluecher wanted them to earn too much credit for their contribution. Their German origin likewise didn't help to get recognition from the Netherlands later on. Researching their actions is interesting and might lead to a different look at this battle. Cheers Martin
