The Annual Tulsa Show just concluded --- a resounding success! Best of Show is Rick Rutter's large scale bust of a WWII Japanese Naval Pilot. Jay Hollopeter is the newest Tulsa Medalist. The Bob Knee Memorial Award goes to Scott Primeux for his bust of a US Paratrooper -- a truly outstanding piece!
More to come in the coming days.
Thanks to everyone in attendance! Now its time to kick back at the Hospitality Suite!

Matt, believe it or not, that's two years in a row a bust has won BOS at Tulsa. Bodes well for us bust dudes. Scott Premeau was also there with his Babe Ruth bust and the Young 101st bust he has converted to 82nd airborne. Both stunners as well! Rick's piece was truly outstanding! I could hardly take my eyes off it. A true work of art. I now have a standard for which I'm working toward! I have a boat-load of pics. I'll work on getting them posted up ASAP! What a great show it was this year! Thanks to everyone who came out and hope all had as good a time as I did! The standard of work this year was really outstanding!

Jay, Thanks for the pics. Who is doing the in progress diorama of the charge of the 42nd at Fort Ticonderoga (Carillon)? ~Gary

The Ticonderoga dio is by Doug Cohen. It is an amazing piece even as a WIP.
What a great show! This was my first time to Tulsa, and not only were there lots of great pieces on display, but these guys know how to throw a party! The hospitality is superb, everyone made me feel right at home. I went knowing a few people there, and returned with many new friends. If you haven't been to this show, you should put it on your agenda as a must do. A very warm and friendly bunch.
Congrats Jay for a well deserved recognition!
Hope to see as many of you as possible in Atlanta next year, and expect to see me back in Tulsa in '09.

GREAT Pics and GREAT SHOW! Absolutely worth the drive from Austin!

Great to see everyone! Jay, again... big CONGRATS :D

Rick.. I think you applied real leather to the cap of your bust but everyone says it's paint... WOW beautiful piece!

Each time I've been able to get to the show I've found great comraderie and a fun trading of ideas that just sets the bar higher and higher.

Now, which figure to start next !?!?!!!?

Mark, good to see you and all the familiar faces, great show!!

Pete, The club does its dead level best to make sure that everyone feels welcome and has a good time. It was a treat to see you and the MN fellows come from so far to our show for the first time. I'm glad you had a good time. Drag some of the others next year too.

Guys, first of all, thanks! For the kudos and also for anyone who came out to the show. The show is nothing without all that tallent showing up!!!!!!

Roy</ST1:p, that piece is from Minnesota</ST1:p modeler Scott Primeau. It's a joy and pleasure to see that one in person for sure! He is a real talent. I'm super excited that the St. Paul Posse was able to come from all the way up there! We had folks from far and wide this year, it was a real joy!

Jay, Congrats ! Very well deserved.

Also to all the other winners. Sounds like it was a great show.

Thanks for having the pictures up so fast. They all look like great pieces.

Maybe next year we can round up some of the Atlanta guys and make a
road trip to the show. Either way. I will be there next year.

Now that I have recovered from the trip home I just wanted to say that the entire weekend was great! The show was full of wonderful work, the vendors good, and the hospitality-out of this world! Both evenings were incredible- full of food, drink and conversation that I will not forget! If you haven't had a chance to make it to Tulsa, I can fully recommend you do as I will try to make it as often as I can from now on.
The work on the tables was excellent, but I must congratulate Jay for his acheivement as the newest Tulsa Medalist, great work! Your work is inspirational for me to say the least. I must also congratulate Rick for his BoS bust. The piece was truly a work of art and deservedly recognized.
Thanks to all for the great and memorable weekend!

Jay, many thanks for sharing the great pics with us. Looks like it was a top notch show. Excellent workmanship all around. One of these years I'll make the trek with my wife from north of the border.
