Completely off topic but I'm so pleased with myself. Condenser TD stopped heating .... disaster.
Was about to call engineer to come and do a diagnostic £50 to see if it was worth repairing £? or if it needed replacing £200.....and then I thought......google and here's what came up
a man showed me how to fix my thermostat , take it out and drop it from about 20 cms from floor and it pops hey presto it works
Two stats at back, take note of the wiring, make a wee diagram. disconnect stats and look at the underside and see if one of the thin metal discs is popped in if it is do above, make sure everything goes back the way it was. In truth you might have to drop it from higher.
It worked a treat I'm dead chuffed.
Cheers

Google has saved me tons of time and money on simple household and automotive repairs over the past few years.

Another handy thing is mobile phone cameras, I take photos before I start a repair to document where the wires go. ;)

Hey Derek wish I had googled before attempting my dryer repair couple of years back, might have saved me the massive electric shock and part loss of tip of thumb, my main worry was looking at the wife while being electrocuted and seeing her thinking about whether she should shut of the electric or noto_O :)

My wife saved me a $2000 + car repair. My air conditioner was flooding the floor of the passenger side of my Grand Caravan. My mechanic wanted to to replace the vaporator coil (after talking to Chrysler). My wife googled it and found a jury rig fix involving a piece of wire and a rubber tube - cost <$5. Asked my mechanic to try it, worked a charm. He didn't even charge me as the knowledge was of use to him for other customers.

BTW - the wife knows more about cars than I do.

Del boy, I have to tell you with regards to the railway platforms, your wife does sub-contracts and we are going to Euro. Now you are OK going to the show, dont need the holdup, but she pays for return journeys as well.
