Hi everyone,

PLEASE CHECK UPDATE FOR PRICES at the end of this thread.

I would like some feedback and comments on the three listed bases. Please note these are only samples. The smaller base - top diameter is 50mm, the second base - top diameter is 65mm and the base with the figure on is 75mm diameter. All overall heights on these are 30mm.

I am in talks with a UK supplier to make turned wooden bases, square plinths, one off's, turned columns (like in the photo's but with the mounting column extended in different heights) and display bases for busts.
The types of woods that will be supplied will be; Oak, Beech, Mahogany, Walnut, Pine, Elm, Yew, Maple, Ash and possibly many more.
I have no prices as yet, but when I have the prices and the link I will post this. I have asked the supplier to be very competitive and if possible put in discounts for quantities of 5 and 10 off's of the same type.

I have also mentioned that if he can supply excellent quality AT THE RIGHT PRICE then he will reap the benefits.
thanks for your time
Richie

Hi ,
I would be interested , any chance of having a look at others from the range especially for busts (ie taller) .

The quality looks really good and I for one look forward to finding out more .

Yes these are great - simple but very good, I have a similar line which I do through a friend here and the cost is very little to fork out, good work !

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the feedback so far, I will see if I can get some more samples of other types to post on pF.
I will keep you updated
cheers and thanks again
Richie

Hi Steve,
This is not my venture I was trying to find a good supplier at a competitive price, so I contacted someone on the net, this is a new venture and diversification for him. We all share on the planet and try to help each other and it would be nice for us modellers to find to find a supplier that could provide good quality bases to enhance our figures.
Thanks for the comment
I will keep the planet posted.
regards
Richie

Richie
always good to hear about a source for qualilty bases, really like what's been shown so far.
Can I suggest you have a look at the SBS of a Saxon vignette over on MedRom, the sort of base used on this would, Ithink, fly off the shelves.
regards
Derek

Hi Planeteers,
I have an update on the turned wooden bases.

The 50mm diameter base is £4.75 each, with a 10% discount for 6 or more.
The 65mm diameter base is £5.10 each, with a 10% discount for 6 or more.
The 75mm diameter base is £5.10 each, with a 10% discount for 6 or more. (the one with the figure on)

Self adhesive crushed velvet baize for the bottom of the base can be supplied in green, red, blue and black at an additional cost of £0.25 each. There is no discount on the velvet baize.

Postage & packing in the UK will be around £3.00 1st class for up to 10 bases.

There will be other timbers available such as yew, oak, mahogany etc., plus one off's and different style bases. As soon as I have more information I will post an update. Due to work commitments on the supplier (as this is not his primary source of income) I cannot post a link yet as he needs to get ready.

I can assure you the quality of the turned bases will be 1st class as he is a timed served cabinet maker and this will be a side line for him. I have ordered some bases and I am due some other samples as soon as these arrive I will post them.

Please let me know your comments.
All the best
Richie
