Tommys War
A Fixture
First in my new line of 1/10 busts, a Corporal of the East African Mounted Rifles.
Sculpted by: Antonio Meseguer
Box art - Alex Quiros (Iguazzu)
Scale - 1/10
Material - resin
Number of parts - 3 (plus 8mm diameter brass rod for mounting to plinth)
The principle of the bust series is to showcase Regiments, actions or uniform that are unique, unusual or otherwise forgotten within World War One.
When we think of the Great War we naturally think of the mud of France and Flanders, but the war was raged across a number of continents.
Raised in 1914 from local volunteers the East African Mounted Rifles (EAMR) were formed to counter the threat from German East Africa. The German strategy was to draw British resources from Europe in to Africa, a policy which failed as the British simply relied on African and Indian troops in the region.
Available directly from Tommy's War at www.tommyswar.com, from our retailers (list of stockists is on the website) and also at the British Model Soldier Society Show on Saturday 26th April.
This is the first bust in this series, the second will be released at Figureworld in July, with more available at Euro Militaire in September.
I'm currently working on a step-by-step painting guide with Alex, this will be available as a download from the website within the next week.
Please note that the release of figure TW54C01 Trooper, 9th Lancers, Elouges 1914 has been delayed for 2 weeks while I finalise some of the finer details. Release date is now 11th May 2014.
