Tommys War
A Fixture
I'm pleased to bring to you the first of five new products released today.
Gassed is a six figure set, with diorama base, that remembers all those that suffered the effects of gas in World War One.A truly horrific weapon used by all sides, gas not only affected those in the trenches physically but mentally as well.
This magnificent set of figures, sculpted by Nino Pizzichemi and cast in detailed grey resin is inspired by the American painter John Singer Sargent who originally painted the image in 1919 (the painting is still owned by the Imperial War Museum).
The set comes complete with a 180mm x 60mm diorama base, sculpted by Andrew Belsey, that comes complete with six duckboards that slot together to form an evocative scene (please note that the diorama base included with the set differs from the one shown on the box art). The set comes in a great quality gift box and also includes a small leaflet with the background to Gassed and a postcard commemorating all those victims of gas.
Gassed was sculpted in conjunction with the Blind Veterans Association, a UK charity that work with current and former service people with vision problems, and to celebrate the centenary of this charity a built and painted copy of Gassed was presented to Her Royal Highness Sophie of Wessex in June 2015. A donation of £5.00 from every sale of this set will be given to the BVA by Tommy's War Limited to help support this great cause.
