Hi all
I am making a start on the U-Boat Commander bust from Andrea

At this stage I have put in some basic lights shades and tones
I have given him blue eyes (thank's for the article Anders)
The next stage will be the hair and beard so I can see where this
is all going. Then comes the experimental bit, adding or reinforcing
light and shade keeping the paint thin and pre-wetting areas for blending,
difficult with acrylics but not impossible.

Frank-

Good start. Skin tones are excellenbt. You are well on the way to capturing that stern uboot "look" :)

How did you paint the gold on the uniform?

Keith

Hi Guy, Rob, Keith,

Thanks for the encouragement, I have one observation with this face
the eyes are very much recessed under the brow, well sculpted,
but difficult to see in a photo

I have tilted the bust back for the next photo it seems this is how the box
photo was done.

Keith, The gold is only underpainted at the moment mix of cavaly brown and
black. I shall paint it using a gold pen and wash it with a chesnut ink

Here is a larger pic

Hey Frank!

Great start on the bust! Busts are so much fun to paint and look at once finished, and I am looking forward to see you paint this baby up!

Frank,

Great start. I like where the flesh tones are heading. I cant wait to see it finished.

Hi Frank

Thanks for the bigger picture! Looking good so far. Loads of character in this one.
Have you seen "DAS BOOT"? Definately has the look of Jürgen Prochnow.

Very glad you've picked up the paint brushes again

:)

Hi
Thanks for all the kind words of encouragement.
The face is pretty much done, skin tones had to be altered once
the beard was painted, but I am moderately happy with the look of
things so far

Any comments or critiques most welcome.

Frank
