Ugolino della Gherardesca, lord of Pisa

Ugolino was from an ancient noble family in Tuscany, of the ghibellin party. He support instead the Guelph party up to became the Lord of Pisa, a that time a very important navy power.
At the end he was put out of the city government and condamned to death by starving as reported by Dante Alighieri in the Commedia.
