I've allways considered the biggest challenge for a Painter of my age, would be Ray Lamb's Taisho. When it came out in the 70s, I wasn't good enough a painter, to even consider getting one, and, by the time I thought I might be good enough, the kit was long out of production! BUT, a couple of weeks ago, I heard there might be a chance of aquiring one for a good price, so I duly went to view it, fully expecting to find a late casting with little, if any of the detail still visable, BUT, This was a very early casting, with each piece all wrapped up in that blue tissue paper that Hinchcliffe used so long ago, and it came complete with the 4 page clour instruction sheet as well !!! This is my Ultimate painting challenge, and I wondered, what other figures modellers would place in this catogory? Come on guys, what's your ultimate? Cheers Ray

Good on you Ray for taking on your challenge. My challenge would be able to paint Life Miniatures Paul von Hindenburg bust, and attempt to get the near perfect paint job that Lee did on the boxart.

Hi Ray!I´ve got mine last year from a PF member from Down under. The figure is in the original black box and has the wonderful tissuewrap around:joyful:!
Tonight I take the 75mm Highlander from Elite/Latorre out of his box and start with him. That´s one of the finest figures ever.
For the moment I paint "One of the Few" and his dog from Life Miniatures. And he looks like Paul McCartney................

Cheers Guys, For me, this is what the hobby is all about, trying to get "the best" out of yourself that, perhaps, we weren't aware what was there. Ray

Hi Andrew I did the Turkish Guy as a conversion a few years ago. it was part of a vignette he was sticking a lance into a downed Knight. I gave it to my Father as a gift. it was a very fine sculpt by Mike Good and a joy to paint even if it was a hell of a kit to put together.

I will be getting it back soon as my father now lives in a care home and I'm clearing his house so it will be back in the collection have fun with it when you get around to doing him.

...beat me to it. I was gonna suggest this one. I too have an original still in the box. Waiting for that day when I'm 'good enough' to do it justice.
