Hi
Don't know if any of you have got hold of this, but I got my Lord of the Rings special ed DVD a couple of days ago, with the special Gollum figure with it.
Apart from being a nice figure, and pretty well painted (took it to my club meet on Wednesday - some guys on here are members and saw it) the best bit is actually a 25 minute dvd on how the thing was made!
It shows the guys from Weta (special effects folks) sculpting a whole range of miniatures, both busts and full figures, out of what I suspect was Sculpey. Very good it was. Not only that, it showed the master moulding process, and the painting process (all done by hand - well with an airbrush (FRANK!!))
Also, it showed Peter Jackson's model collection! Loads of fantasy Sci-Fi stuff (including Anime) - and he said he's made a good number but some are made and waiting for paint, but most are still in their boxes in the attic waiting for when he retires! Sounds familiar?
It actually made me feel proud of this here hobby!
It's just a shame that they aren't available as unpainted kits.
If you can get hold of this one disk it is VERY MUCH worth a look.
Rob
