Hi everyone,

At present I'm working through Mitches Defending the gates scene of the Coldstream Guards at Hougomont. I've decided to try and depict the figure pushing the gate from set 3 as Sgt Graham and as such was wondering if anyone can help with the following points:

I've put sgt's chevrons on both arms and will be putting a sash round his waist. Will he need a sword/short bayonet sword or will the bayonet suffice?

Will the sash have a central stripe in regimental facing colour or be plain Crimson?

Should there be chevrons on both arms and if so are they white or gold? From some checks I have done they seem to be yellow/gold as is the thread edging on the shoulder wings which seems to differ from the "wool" of the other ranks.

My conversion skills are somewhat limited and I'd hate to set off down that path and potentially spoil a great figure in its own right.

Apologies if this is in the wrong section but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cannonball.

Hi Cannonball.
First well done for adding Sgt Graham.
Napoleonic's is not my era.
But according to Franklin's Book :-
The Chevrons were worn on the RIGHT arm and were of Guilt on a Blue Background.
The Sash would be Crimson.
He would carry a sword with the sword belt being over the right Shoulder.
He would also carry a Spontoon but that could have been lost /dropped exchanged for a musket.

The only other thing to remember is that Sgt Graham was in the light company.

Good luck with this.
Mick
