Sorry - from someone who uses just an SS rank-insignia as an avatar, I think the question is -frankly - a bit strange ...

Sorry to correct you, Martin. Wellington's avatar has nothing to do with SS, but everything with the German Jägertruppen - it was their cap badge, introduced in October 1942.

And the reason there is less painting advice for US uniforms is probably the same why there are almost as many German WWII figures on the market as there were soldiers serving in the Wehrmacht...
