Historical Background:

The Delaware Indians had a long standing reputation as scouts and interpreters for both the Army and civilian expeditions. Many of the Delaware fled to Kansas when Confederates occupied the Wichita Agency in the Indian Territory (present day Oklahoma). In the spring of 1862, many of the Delawares joined the newly found 2nd Indian Home Guard.

This is a unique figure from a little covered part of American History. The resin figure comes cast in 8 parts including a base and was sculpted by Alan Ball.

Above are 2 views of the coat section that attaches to the right side of the figure.

Above you see me holding the 2 sections of the coat together to show the detail and how it fits to the back and front. Careful sanding will give an even closer fit on the back.

Above are the arms. The left arm / hand fits right up between the coat and body.

Above is the seperate cast hat and pouch.

The figure comes with a resin cast base with foot prints for proper locating the figure to the base.

Conclusion:

An excellent kit of a Delaware Scout serving during the American Civil War. Clean cast with very little clean-up required.
