Lots of great work on this Alexander!

Couple of points: I like the tired expression on the face but the ears look a little tucked back to me, possibly because the head tapers backwards from the cheekbones; and the 1903 seems a touch off in proportions, although I can't put my finger on what's giving me that impression (trigger guard maybe?)

real nice work on this figure Alexander, i like the figure and the use of the groundwork as a seat to pose him, nice touch to have the helmet available for both positions.

Just curious but did these soldiers have bayonets during this period ? i dont see one on the figure and was wondering.

great job,

Steve(y)

Einion. Thanks.
Please, forgive me my English. Trigger guard is too big?
Ears - apparently the distortion of camera lens. In fact, they look a little better.
1969. Thanks.
bayonet in the progress. :)

Tasty sculpting! Very nice!

I have to agree with Einion - I think the trigger guard is too large. Otherwise excellent job on the rifle.

Some photos of Springfields and specs...hope they help!

Springfield 1903 rifle specifications
Length 43.2 IN
Length of Barrel 24 IN
Magazine Capacity 5
Caliber .30-06

The gas mask, which would be a British small box type, should have a snap flap type cover. Easily added.

He should also be wearing his first aid kit on his left side on the belt. This is just a small snap closure pouch with wire clips fitting over the belt. If you need a photo - I'll see what I can do.

All the best,
Dan

Alex, great sculpt!

The hands are superb!

Great expression....'what the **** am I doing here?'

I like the curvature on the soles of the boots, a nice touch!

Cheers,
Jon.

This really is a beautiful sculpt, and if it comes out commercially, might distract me from my usual C19 lads!
As regards the trigger guard, perhaps this will help. The guard should extend from the safety lock thumb piece at the back to the front of the bolt handle in front. It should occupy about 1/25th (roughly) of the rifle's length, and I think that yours is closer to 1/14th. But at least it's easily fixed. Congratulations!

Thanks, friends!
Thanks, Dan!
Soldiers wear a gas mask bag buckles inward. This is confirmed by these photos -

First Aid kit -

Thanks for Springfield 1903 Rifle photos. I'll try to remake the trigger guard.
Figure will be released under the label "Taurus Miniatures" :)

Cheers Bob - Great photo of a Springfield!

Zippo - I think the doughboys in your photos have the gas mask bag open with the flap folded back. This would allow quickest donning of the mask in field conditions. It would make sense that if they were in the first or second trench line, they had been taught to do that. Further away from the firing lines, probably they'd snap the gas mask flap down. Somewhat like the posed photo attached. Also found a good photo of all the field gear, including the little first aid pouch. See # 4 in the photo.

Keep up the fine work on the figure!

All the best,
Dan
