Vallejo color recommendations

Our local hobby shop is adding Vallejo paints. They asked for ideas of which colors to start with. I made some suggestions from the brochure, but thought I would ask those of you with more experience with this range for recommendations of particularly useful colors.

It depends a lot of what period of history you paint.
But I think these colors are a must-have :

Sunny Skin tone, Burnt umber, Black, White, Basic Skin tone, English Uniform.

I use them on every figure I paint. After, it depends of what you paint

I agree with Laurent, I would add Vermillion, Scarlet, Burnt Cadmium Red and Carmine Red. They also do a useful selection of browns that may be worth considering.

Hi Jim, what market do they supply - armour modellers, fantasy mini painters etc? If they don't want to just get the display rack with the full range the proposed users would be a determining factor I would think.
