Great Plains of the Midwest, Omaha, Nebraska, USA,
Tony Dawe asked me to provide color references for horizon blue, the "standard" uniform color of French infantry, support troops and artillery from about 1915 until the end of the war. Just like khaki, feldgrau and all the other uniform colors, horizon blue was anything but "standard" in shade. Here you go.

Always glad to help, guys! Steve - my very first Chicago show, I easedropped on two snipers talking about feldgrau uniforms. Fortunately it wasn't my figure they were talking about. Their comments were ridiculous.

I resisted the temptation to talk to them about dye lot chemistry using vegetables as color sources, or UV and rain-related bleaching, or unequal fabric wear....
