Hello All, could some one tell me is the verlinden desert patrol mounted on camel 120mm, British or Arab, it is an old kit I just purchased, and I am not sure. Thanks Ray

The figure, I believe, depicts a sergeant of the Arab Legion, who were 'employed' by the British, under Captain Frederick Gerard Peake. They were very effective in the Middle East theatre, WWII, mostly Jordanian Bedouin, so you could paint him in desert khaki with a chequered red and white shemagh/keffiyah, although a plain headress would be equally correct. The headband/igal is usually black. They had a variety of traditional small arms, and loved the Lee-Enfield 303. His stripes could be white edged, light Khaki. Camel furniture was personal choice, quite colourful.
My father was in that theatre of war, and came across them a few times in his capacity of a sergeant in RAMC, attached to the LRDG. He said he was glad they were on our side, as the Berber chaps could be exceedingly cruel to any Axis forces they caught:rolleyes:
Hope this is of some help.

Cheers, Alan
