Very, very nice figures and a great scene, Luc! Excellent facial expressions and very skillful painting and scene-setting. Too bad you couldn't have some fog or ground mist! Did you sculpt the faces as well as the figures? What scale is this?

I've often thought a Bastogne vignette would be neat. Here's the scene - Two senior German officers walking in the middle of a dirt road. They are returning from their brief but confusing conference with THE most articulate US General of WW2 - McAuliffe. Quizzical looks on their faces, stunned. "Vos is 'Nuts!' "? Shaking their heads and wondering how the devil they are going to explain this to the boss. They walk slowly back to their Volkswagen parked at the other end of the road. The driver is stamping on his cigarette and coming to attention. At the other end of the road, three very grubby US paratroopers are laughing uproariously.

Can't you just see it?

All the best,
Dan

Where's the snow? According to many recorded vocal histories, it seemed like the coldest winter in Europe back then. Looks like autumn to me.

But there was no snow during the initial German advance, only mud, though the groundwork doesn't really have that cold wet feel to it either.

Pete, Is there such a thing as winter there in San Diego

First, nice job Luc!

There's lots of mud on their boots and legs.
And there wouldn't necssarily be too much mud on the slope. I'd like to see some skidded footprints if it were...

I believe the snow started after Dec. 25.

Hi

The movie "Battleground" was on this weekend. Your vignette is replicated in part during the movie. Not quite as well as you have described! It would make a cool vignette.

Oh, one more thing about the vignette. Between the 3 paratroopers they have a total of six rounds for their rifles, no grenades, nine cigarettes, two condoms and one-half of a chocolate bar. Don't guess that would be too visual, would it, but that's the fix they were in.

all the best,
Dan

Well, there were no condoms in "Battlefield"...!!!

Your setting is different from the movie, I just thought it was quite the coincidence.

Cheers
