I know from experience that photographs show up every small imperfection that aren't always seen by the naked eye. That said I think you have done quite well at this. The label on the bottle is well interpreted and the colours used are right for this figure. I like how you have painted the face. Yes, you have done some drybrushing and I am reminded of some of my own earlier painting here but as stated keep practicing and as we all do, you will improve. I have painted this figure myself and it is one of my favourites. It's only 54mm high, that is quite small and is hard to paint. My advice is learn about shading and washes. Use a dark watered down wash to add shadows in areas of similar colours such as the straps on his gaitors. If you are unsure about acrylics, try enamel or oils. You may find these more suitable as a medium. I know I do. I tend to use acrylics more as a base coat for oils and then to highlight when totally dry. Don't stick to just one medium because it's popular. A good painter uses them all to get the desired effect. Most important of all, don't be afraid if you fail and it doesn't look like what you want. Just strip it off and start again. You will be surprised how better you can paint on a second attempt. Whatever you do, don't give up. We have all painted like this.
