Nice character and figure, I painted time ago a foot version. I am pretty sure that the checkered heraldry is gold and blue. The surviving Manesse code has worn gold leaf. I have seen it also, in black and blue.

We were also thinking about the colors you mentioned, then we did further research and found von Metze's heraldry. For this reason it seemed more plausible to make it white. The code is in gold leaf, but the yellow colors are different and therefore it couldn't have been yellow. we were undecided about black and white.
