This weekend saw the 10th annual Western Australian Scale Model Expo. I was too busy with judging and helping to run the event to take pics, but I hope some will become available soon.

Visitor numbers were up significantly upon previous years, competition entries were up 20% on last year, the standard of models on display was significantly higher than in previous years and we also had a bumper crop of junior and intermediate age modellers attend and compete.

Planet Figure members dominated the Figures categories in the competition.

Chris Walden (loosehead) came First in the Busts category, I came Second and Third. Scott Murray (khogor) received a Highly Commended.

Ben Flood (figurelover) won the Small Scale Figures category, I came second.

I came First, Second and Third in the Large Scale Figures.

Leo Ng came First in the Scratch Built Figures category.

I came First in Fantasy Figures. Scott Murray (khogor) came Second and also Highly Commended.

I also came First in Large Scale Vignettes.

17 year old Charlie Young (chas young) came First in the Intermediate Vignette catgegory and also won the coveted Capt. Len Vickeridge Prize for the Best Junior/ Intermediate Modeller at the Show, and received a Bust kit and free membership to the Historical Military Figure Society of WA as his prize.

Overall, the Figures section at WASMEx saw a strong overall performance by pF members, aided and supported by Ian Harries (busso boy) from Empire Hobbies, who made the long journey from Sydney to Perth with his lovely wife Kim, and once again sponsored the figures category and handed out some very nice kits as prizes.

A great time was had by all.

Miss WASMEX again this year :(, many thanks for Murray from the SMCWA to submit my work in this year's competition.

Looking forward to see some photo of the competition.

This years show was very enjoyable and I think that the quality and quantity of all the models had grown since last year. I was suprised that there was a whole table dedicated to almost just figures (thanks alot to Tony :p).

Thanks,
Daniel

P.S I lurk this forum now more than I do post :)
