Hi Folks

This is a little project that I started at Christmas and then left for a while to get some commission work done.

It’s part of a two figure wedgie project. The two figures are from Alpine Miniatures 1/32nd scale and the Panzer Tank section is from Darius miniatures. Only one figure near completion and the other one half done. Hope to have this all wrapped up the next few weeks.

Figures painted in Vallejo and reaper acrylics. Panzer section painted in Vallejo acrylics and hair spray, still lots to do on this.

Any comments on this so far most welcome.

Lots of thanks to Mr Barton (y) (housecarl) in the ealy stages of this project

Cheers
Tommi

Hi Tommi!
It seems a dunkgelb PZIV? with good looking withewash...
I always doubt and i dont have profiles of SS panzer IV in Kharkov (1943) with this color but certainly will exist?...
Regarding the figure, is one of the best weathering I saw of this gem from Teasung, congrats Tommi you capture the enviroment very well.
I continue to think the cap piping was yellow, not white, because Meyer´s was an SS recce commander.
Well done!
P:s I send you and pm, did you saw it?
Pedro.

Hi Pedro,
Thanks for the info my friend, I will change the piping on the hat at some point this week to yellow, I was just using the pictures from the web site as a reference.

The ammunition pouches that we talked about were the MP40 pouches and I found a colour reference for them, his was for the additional Alpine figure SS Grenadier Kharkov which I am workin on at the moment.

The Panzer will be a broken down vehicle left to rust so I will need to do some more weathering and pigment work on it once it is on the base.

The Kurt Meyer figure was a real please to work with and very enjoyable, such fantatic detail and quality in this scale.

Cheers

The Panzer looks well now Tommi, as does Meyer.
Glad have been able to help,:)

Thanks Mark and Carl
Looking foward to getting this completed soon, I really like the darius wedgies and work well with the twin set Alpine figures, have of few of these set aside for the future.
Cheers

Is what I think...Tommi, I think you should let the piping white if you want, if you notice, the painting of Mr.Tan for the box art the piping is white. Maybe Meyer´s commanded a recce company but his brand was infantary???
In Kharkov 1943, 3th battle, (General Paul Hausser order to recapture the city) Meyer´s was commander of SS LAH 1st recce batalion, cooperated with Max Wünsche panzer battalion in the frontline...

I am painting Evolution's Grenadier at the moment, could you tell me the colours you use for the trousers please?
They look very good

http://www.brisbanemodelbuilder.com/

The trousers are painted in acrylics using the Andrea white paint set. Base coat number 1, then shadow 1 from the set diluted with Vallejo glaze medium, applied in the deepest part of the creases and blended outwards toward the edge of the crease, the glaze medium acts as a retardant and allows you to blend the paint without getting any sharp edges, same method as oils!

Then use second shadow from the set and apply in the same way but blending out only half way of the first.

Next do the same for the light from the set using highlight1 applying only a small diluted amount to the raised areas, blast with a hair drier then apply light 2 from the set but this time working from the top of the trousers downwards applying number 2 highlight and decreasing the highlight to only the most prominent points as you work down the legs.

I then mix a very watery translucent number 1 shadow, warm the legs with a hair drier and apply the wash all over, it dries at a steady rate and blends all the high and low shadow transitions together quite nicely, just remember to keep this mixture very thin.

This is how I do it I am sure there is an easier way but this suits me at the moment and I have had fun experimenting with the Andrea colour set. You can also mix most of these colours yourself.

Hope this helps

Will be trying some German camo in this scale soon, will be a very interesting exercise, I have the Calvin Tan book so maybe this will help!
Also looking at doing the Alpine Russian tank crew with a Darius wedgie as well but that is a few months away.
