There are lots of figure shows going on especially now that Spring is nearly upon us. Granted, most of the PF member base is here in the U.S., there are still plenty of shows outside the U.S. and several members are from these countries. Now, I realize, everyone doesn't get out to these different shows around the world. What I'm getting to is why don't we do a show report if someone from PF goes to a show regardless of where it's at or who sponsors it? I also realize there are a ton of magazines out there with show reports and several offer show specials. I'm not talking about a photo essay, we get plenty of that already. Even if you or someone else happened to take a lot of photos, you could instead put up a link (which has already been done before) to the photos saving Gordy some bandwidth here. We could post a pic or two, of the members, not the models. A quick show report focusing on more of the social aspect v.s. the competition side of it. A pic or two of the members relaxing during the exibition would be nice I think (sometimes censored of course  ). Now, I'm already guilty of this. Iv'e attened two IPMS shows and reported NOTHING! There were even PF members there none the less! It doesn't have to be a "figure only" show to report on. As long as there were figures there. We could all find out who was going and say something to the effect, find me here at such and such time. Possibly even have PF nametags (geeky?) or a small flyer (buisness card-ish size), get permission to put them down on the table and presto chango, instant advertisement. Of course, someone else would have to do this as Gordy is already WAY too taxed with all he does. We could come up with one (different languages?) and post it here on The Planet for anyone and everyone to download/print it off. Who cares which country (by the way, some of the best figure shows are in Europe in my opinion) you are in or where your'e from. Just let everyone know what happened in the world of figures. Like I said, maybe one or two pics showing members, not the figures. Give a link to that to save bandwidth.

What do the rest of you think? Only a pipedream?

Great Idea ,we are attending as a club a couple of shows this month so i will ask frank h and RobH to assist in putting something togeather, they being the camera buffs.

Jim-

I am game. Bought a new camera for my last deployment and it is just waiting to be used.

Just as a side note, the PMFS club in Florida just had thier 4th show and although it is still small I think it will take off in a couple of years. Mike McCowen will be posting pics on the Masterworks web site soon.

I will see if he will post a show report.

I'm taking my camera to the MFCA show to take pictures of figures. A few shots of PF members and their displays would be neat (a face with a name). I really enjoy the social side of a show myself, but would rather show pics of figures rather than folks sitting around eating a meal or getting hammered. I'm not trying to sound like a stick in the mud, but the figure displays and talking shop are my main reasons for going. I may have opened the flood gates with a few folks so say your peace. If someone came up with a small design for a card that could be printed off of this site they could attach it to one of their slips on their display. It would be a great way to get the site's name out there.~Gary

I used to do that too Gary-only to get home and find blurry pictures (even digital-the 1" screen doesn't show everything). I gave up after a while and leave it to the pros.

I find that photos taken at 2am can be very lucrative indeed.......

I like all aspects of a show- the figures live generally look nothing like in mags, you can talk shop which you usually can't and for me anyway I get to see friends I can only see 1-3 times per year and enjoy great meals with them. Meet new friends and meet some of the "greats" and pick their brains. The late-night boozing is a side benefit. ;)

All around a show is a great little trip and I don't know if I think one aspect is better than the next - for me anyway, not that anyone else should believe the same thing. We each get what we want out of it.

You can write your name on your "exhibitor" tag so we can all identify ourselves.
