Alex,

I use the uncolored (pale gray) Magic Sculp. I think any light color would work. That way you can easily see shadows and shapes. As far as I know, Magic Sculp has an unlimited shelf life. I bought 5 pounds 2 years ago, and it's still fine-- soft, easy to mix, and hardens properly.

Alex, If you're going to use it for filling or sculpting small scale stuff go with the smaller containers. The gray/green portion which I think is the hardener has a tendency to develope a crust or film to it over time. I have found the same thing happen to the hardener for A&B putty. For some reason I guess it's natural for it to dry out after a while.~Gary

Thanks for the tips guys, and i have one final question...i want enough to pretty much sculpt an entire figure (aside from head, boots, hands, etc)...and then have some left

is 8oz going to suffice ?

When this happens, you can just knead the hardener to remix it. It has no effect on the putty that I have been able to discern.

Gary,

I've had the same problem with the Magic Sculpt hardener drying out. I have the 8 oz containers and found storing them in a zip lock baggie prevents it from drying out. Someone once told me about putting it in the micro-wave for a few seconds to soften it up. I tried it and it works, just need to use care right after the 'nuke" because it does get a little warm.

Hi Alex,

In case you missed it check this past thread, I'm diving into the world of sculpting, life presever needed...

MS is supposed to have an unlimited shelf life according to the manufacturer. I've had my five pounds since I ordered it from the Phil a few years ago and it's still going strong. I agree with Mike, the skin than forms on the hardener is not, in my experience, the same problem as it is in Milliput for example.
