Thanks to all the good advice I got regarding the use of Gunze Sangyo Mr. Metal, I'm almost finished with a Swiss harquebuser figure wearing plenty of armor. Usually when a figure is completed, I spray him with either Testor's Dullcoat or occasionally Testor's semi gloss. My question now is, what effect will Dullcoat have on the armor? I didn't polish it to a high mirror-like gloss but it does have a bit of a shine & I'm not sure what Dullcoat will do to it. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks in advance.

Hey Mike!

I wouldnt spray the thing with dull coat, as Ive done this before, and it aint pretty. It really dulls it down and makes it appear grainy. Anyone else done this?

Mike,

The Dullcote (or any varnish) will invariably 'kill' the metallic effect you tried so hard to achieve.

So my advice would be to MASK OFF the 'metal' areas before applying the varnish.

I am totally against using dullcote on the armour. One thing you can do is use an acrylic flat varnish and paint the area you want to. That way you avoid the risk of dullcote and no need for masking either
