Hi folks!

Regarding piracy, copying a entire a figure is crime, but I have a doubt: if someone with skills scratch a new figure with parts of others manufacturer using a manequin, modifying head is considered piracy if turning the figure into production?

I think it would be manners if it is not a legal (copyright etc) have to to ask permission first if you did that I know I would probably say yes if asked but ask for a small percentage if it was a figure that ran off say a 1,000 copies but if it was 10-20 not so much

Hi Pedro - good question. As far as I understand the alteration of an existing part is something "in between". The best way is still to ask for permission from the producer of the part you want to use before going commercial. I know of a case when Tamiya allowed the free use of their weapon sets on commercial 120mm figures - so even the "big fish" give their support when asked in a proper way.
The use of original parts of a figure like legs or head for another figure is surely "copying" and without permission an infringement of copyrights.
Cheers, Martin
