Hi,
I'm searching for someone who is able to make 1/32 computer sculpted heads from photos of race drivers.
My main hobby is to scratch build race cars from 1918-1940. I'm working at the moment at 3 1937 Monaco Mercedes W125 GP cars.
It's very hard to find suitable figures for this theme, so I wonder if there's somebody who can make these race drivers from photo.
The 3 divers I want in 3d, preferably with there leather race cap on without the glasses:

Please let me know what my possibilities are?

Cheers,

Do they have to be computer sculpted ?

The reason I ask: Unlike a living personality, these chaps can't be 3D scanned; digitally sculpting their likeness can and more than likely take longer than traditional sculpting.

Hi Gordy,

I'm no expert on sculpting, I thought computer sculpting was much easier, but apparently I'm wrong. It doesn't actually matter to me how it's made, as long as the heads are recognizable, as the individuals on the photos.
The reason I'll mentioned computer sculpting, a while ago I bought a 1/32 Tazio Nuvolari figure from someone in the USA, and I was very pleased with it.

Unfortunately I haven't heard anything of the sculptor lately, so I'm looking for others who have the skills to make small masterpieces.

Cheers,
Danny

Portrait is hard to do in any media ;)

However there is no much computer sculptors in this forum. I Started to learn few months ago, and only have one finished piece (1/24 "retro" chic, for the 1970-1980 car models - at the moment I'm waiting for print to arrive from USA). Check : http://www.planetfigure.com/threads/sculptris-male-head-template.45906/page-3 , the finished pic is at the bottom of the page.

So I can't take the obligation to do it as I'm no "professional" sculptor, but I have suggestion:

Pick one driver, provide me with a few pics, and I'll try to do it. You have no obligation to me if You do not like the piece, it will be a good practice for me, and You can still try to find professional sculptor no mater that I'm working on it ;)

Regards !

Danny,

It would be great fun to sculpt figures such as these. I am a fulltime professional sculptor who specializes in portraits in many different scales. Let me know if you are interested in hiring me to do such sculpts. Here are some samples of my work - all in 1/32nd scale.....

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the response to my quest. I'll contact you all later this week, and we'll see what can be done. I love already the idea of the drivers in my slot cars made by different artists. This would be great.

The moderator of this forum asked me to explain and show a little more of my slot car scratch builds. I'm not planning to give full tutorials on this forum, because the main reason why I am on this forum, is for the figures, in and around my slot cars. I do already full tutorials on an English and a German forum so I think it's a good idea, I give the link to those Forums, and for those who want to learn more about my projects, can have a look. You don't have to be a member of those Forums to read them, only if you want to give comments. But you also can give them on the topic on this Forum.

Now to the project I'm working on at the moment. I'm building three Mercedes W125 Grand Prix Cars that won the first 3 places at the 1937 Monaco GP. First was Manfred Von Brauchitsch with car nr 10, second Rudolf Carraciola with car nr 8 and third Christian Kautz with car nr 12

For those who want to see real footage of the race there's a good news real on YouTube
The ones who want to to follow the full scratch builds look at:

Cheers,
Danny
