I think the following, from the bottom of the page is much more interesting:

"To place a bid of US $15,000.00 or more, you'll need to provide a valid credit card..."

Note the use of the "valid" adjective... (stolen only allowed under 15,000 ??? :( ).

I like the part where it says "realistic offers only". Maybe they should have come up with a "realistic" starting bid. If someone bids on that I know what my next project is going to be. :) ~Gary

WOW! This brings up some real philosophical points for me. With a project of such scope, you HAVE to do it for the passion, and not for the profit.

I have to agree with Bob, I think the only clear cut winner here is eBay! According to my crappy math skills they (eBay) stand to make just over $15 G (straight 2% off the top) plus insertion fees if this thing sells for the opening bid price! Imagine what transportation would be like on top of that, both logistics and costs.

To each his own I guess...

There's the explanation of the price right there: it includes a never-before-seen time element... maybe the troops move...

Anyone who's familiar with the actual site, what's the recreation of the geography like?

Einion, I go to Gettysburg on the average about twice a year. One thing that struck me about most of the photos is there is a total lack of split rail fence and stone walls, especially in the areas that depict fields. Though Gettysburg was home to a small carriage industry, farming was the main 'industry" in the area and literally has miles of fencing. This Gettysburg shows almost no signs of that. There are several wartime and post war images that would lend themselves to such a project. I'm curious to what extent these modellers used them, or did they even visit Gettysburg to get a feel of the topography? Below is a photo of what I'm guessing is supposed to be Little Round Top. If it is, it's way to steep of an incline, in addition to looking to be a much higher elevation than the real Little Round Top.~Gary

Good luck to them if they can get their asking price. Now not that I have the money or space but I couldn't buy anything based on those photos anyway because you can't really make anything out in them. This item is being watched in My eBay :)
