Got a start on the bust of Damian Lewis portraying Major Winters in the series Band of Brothers. I thought it was a pretty cool series so when I saw this bust I thought I'd give it a go.
Still a lot to do on the face but I thought I'd try get some feedback as to how it's going so far. I'm going to try dirty up the face a little when it's done. Any tips or comments would be great.
Cheers,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,
good start so far.

Can start to see the evolution of tones....

Personally, I would tackle the eyes at this point, often the hardest part of a figure to do.

Having (and still struggling) with faces, I find it easier to get the eyes done, then work on the face.

that way, if I slip or goof, it means less rework.

(I think the first bust I painted, did great skin tones, left the eyes till last....then had to strip and repaint the lot, about three times......so my learning was to do the hard part first.)

What medium are you using?

cheers

Hi Andrew,

A very nice bust and an excellent likeness of the Winters character from BOB.

I'd add the eyes now too, and add a few more highlights to the forehead and the upper lip, which look a bit dark to me.

Thanks guys, sounds like the eyes should be next. I normally do eyes a little earlier I just got carried away and kept going with the skin.

Jamie I'm using acrylics.

Thought I'd include the picture I'm using as a reference too

Cheers,
Andrew.
