Yes, I know World Expo 2008 is about 1 1/2 years away however, after attending the last one in Boston, I made a resolution to myself not to miss another (at least not if I can help it). What I'm looking for is info as far as dates, hotels, post show attractions/ plans and is there a web site? I tried a Google search but turned up nothing. Again, I know it's a bit out there still but I'm trying to get an idea for what it will cost me to go to Spain and stay for roughly one week. The further out I can make the reservations the cheaper (at least it should be) it will be on me. I'm hoping that any of pF's membership in Spain can help me out. Again, it's just to start making some sort of plans as far as money is concerned.

Thanks,
Jim Patrick

Hi Jim
In some days there will be some news in the net at the official WE '08 website.
I'll try to update any new information as soon as I get it.
Best regards
jaume

I think it's unfortunate that the WMSF doesn't maintain a website where a person could get the latest information. For Boston a site popped up right before the Expo, then was closed shortly after. I think the same was true for Rome as well. Such a site would also be useful for gaining information on the WMSF.

I agree John! Hopefully the powers that be will drop in and read this thread. It's something I, as a potential attendee/ spender, would love to check in on ;)

In this Expo there be also a Greek team of at least 15 people , and i will definately be there.
How big is Girona City ? I guess it would also be nice to stay there, with all the guys and not having 200 km a day trip

Costas, I don´t know exactly but guess about 150000 inhabitants.
Gerone is a perfect place to spend the weekend with its medieval quarters and buildings all in a walk distance. The food is very good and the beach is near (28 km.).
There is plenty of hotels because it is a touristic place (like most of Spain) but still I think it would be good to make reservations in advance: there are a lot of tourists in summer.

Hi Guys

Is there any dates for this as I wish to arrange my holiday around this event as well...

Looking forward to it myself, another question, will they make the website in English as well as Spanish? I have a hard enough time with English and my Spanish is even worse!!

At the Boston Expo it was thought that the next Expo 2008 would be in Barcelona.

Has this changed or was that in error ??

Gerone (Girona) is 108 km (one hour drive) from Barcelona. There's also Figueres, Salvador Dali's home town (and museum) nearby.

Judging from what Pere Masferrer (of Art Girona) told me, it's the perfect location (accomodation, transport, tourism,...) for a successful World Expo. (y)

" Perfect" is not the word I would use in terms of a WE 2008 location in Spain Quang.

O yes,

It is the perfekt location. Every location on Europe continent will do.
The other side of the ocean can do the WE again in 2010 i think.
So for now it is in Europe, and in Spain. (why they didn't choose Amsterdam or something closer to my village).
Anyway...... I saving some money now to get over there in 2008 and stay some nights.

I'm looking forward to this World Expo.

I think the location is excellent, looking forward to visiting the hermosa tierra del fuego.

Cheers
Roc. :)

Richard,

You'll find it hard to believe but there's still life outside the US of A. ;)

That was not my point at all. I was most enthused that EX 2008 was to be in Spain.

I , along with many other folks at Boston WE thought the location was Barcelona, a _Large Historic City_ , with easy access through an International Airport, that I looked forward to visiting as part of WE 2008/Vacation trip.

I thought that was obvious from my first post.

It`s a Cheap Shot to accuse me of bing an American Chauvinist because I question the city choice.
