Hello all!

To start the new year with a good intention:

I'm still searching for the daimyo busts by Augie Rodriguez produced by Fort Duquesne and now "impossible" to find, in particular:
Kato Kiyomasa
Kato Yoshiaki
Ii Naosuke
Tokugawa Ieyasu
Yamamoto Kansuke

If any of these should be gathering dust in a grey army, please drop me a line.
One can't but hope!

hello Piet,

They do pop up on Ebay from time to time, but they are not cheap, I have bought both Ieyasu and Kiyomasa this way but in each case they were just over £50-one of the mounted 120mm kits also sold for $475 recently. I'm sort of hoping that Augie might re-release them at some time but I don't know if he has the masters/moulds!?

A place in Florida called Johns Models here in the states owns the rights to ALL the old Ft. Duquesne pieces. I would maybe give them a shout and see what thier plans are for re-releasing those particular pieces. They have a very limited line of pieces they have already re-cast and released, but none of the Samurai are out yet. They may be able to better answer if they will ever surface again. Otherwise, Keith's suggestion of eBay may be your best course of action! Good luck!

Hi!

Thanks for the info guys. Augie himself pointed me to his forum El Passo Honroso, where another member might be able to help me!
This would narrow down my quest to Kato Yoshiaki, Ii Naosuke and Maeda Toshiie!

best regards,

akaryu:):)

I did ask Johns models if he had the masters for the Samurai and he said that regrettably he didn't,

Wonder who does own them?

By the way I am still looking for Maeda Toshie...Yamamoto Kansuke...& Il Naomasa if you turn up any spares!

Keith

Piet,

Just a thought you have mentioned a couple that I am not aware of ...do you know how many were produced?
I have a record of 7 busts and 1 mounted figure (Numbers 801-807,809)....are there more? I don't have any info on 808, perhaps you can fill in the blanks?

Keith

Hello Keith,

As far as I know they are:
Date Masamune
Tokugawa Ieyasu
Takeda Shingen
Katô Kiyomasa
Katô Yoshiaki (no relative!)
Yamamoto Kansuke
Ii Naomasa (not Naosuke! Where were my thoughts????)
Maeda Toshiie

I don't know the numbers, I only know what they look like. That makes eight busts, FD also had some full figures, but I don't remember who they represented.

Regards

Hi Piet,

Thanks for that as it fills in the missing number 808 which must be kato Yoshiaki...that was the one I was unaware of...so I now agree with your total of 8 busts.
Happy hunting. I am looking for Yoshiaki, Toshie, Kansuke, Naomasa....if you come across any duplicates of these I would appreciate the heads up...I will do likewise.
Keith

Hi Keith,

Katô Yoshiaki was indeed the last one produced. I'll keep you informed about the result of my search.

Piet

Hi guys,

Would anyone be able to post pics of these bust? I'll love to see them (especially if anyone has finished works to share). I was only aware of 5 released by FD so I guess I missed out on a lot.

I was fortunate enough to pick up the Kansuke bust years ago. Started but never finished it as I fear my current painting abilities would not do it justice. Maybe after another 10 years of painting practice :)

Cheers
Basil

The masters for thesewere sold to a company in Japan that promised they would be available on the Japanese market. Unfortunately that never occured. This is regrettable as they were some of the best items in the Ft. Duquesne line.

Jim,

You wouldn't have a few Maeda's or Yoshiaki stowed away in a vault in Switzerland by any chance? Or know someone who has?

Cheers:)
