Can anyone help?. I've found 3 WW1 busts in my kit box. I know they were part of a set that came with model aircraft. One is Eddie Rickenbacker and another is Von Richoffen. I don't seem to have any details or painting guides as to who the rest are and how many were in the set. I have 3 altogether. Any ideas ?

Cheers

I sculpted 4 busts for Dragon many years ago. They were never a set, but came one to a box along with apprpopriate Dragon (DML) model airplane kits.

The busts were of Richthofen, Rickenbacker, Ernst Udet and an obscure German Navy pilot. The Udet bust is easy to distinguish from the other because his hat is identical to Richthofen's and he has a large turned up fur collar. The hat on the last figure has Naval insignia which looks quite different from the army hat.

Also, every single paint-job I have seen of Ernst Udet shows him with a leather flight suit. This is WRONG! The flight suit should be in brown cloth as it actually represents a captured French flying overall. This was duplicated from photos of Udet.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that Mike, I didn't realise it was you who sculpted them. But judging by the quality, they had to be done by a master!! I'll keep my eye out for the fourth. Are you still sculpting and if so, what's your latest?.

Cheers

Just to put this one to bed. I've been going through my thousands of Euro militaire pics and I found this photo of 4 busts entered by Lee Chandler. Sorry it's blurred. And a better quality pic of Ernst Udet. Any ideas where I can find the Udet bust in the UK? Not sure which year they were taken.
