Hey guys, a question for those of you knowledgeable about WW1 German uniforms. I'm painting Andrea's WW1 German Stormtrooper bust from a few years back (the one with the gas mask hanging from around his neck). I'm wondering if the box art is accurate. The box art shows red piping on the tunic, cornflower blue piping on the epaulettes, and red numerals ("40") on the epaulettes. Is that right? Mainly, I'm wondering about the piping on the epaulettes. A source I have seems to indicate the piping should be white. I think the blue looks better though! Any help appreciated.

Sounds like the boxart is accurate Jason. The tunic would be piped red and the shoulder strap piping cornflower blue for XIV Korps of which infantry regt. 40 was a part.

This is off the top of my head but I'll check out the details and get back to you.

Roger is right. It is the 40th Fusilier Regiment. Here were the piping of the shoulder strap "Hellblau" = light blue. Don´t know if cornflower blue is correct. But the shoulder strap on the box-art has the correct color
