I am working on creating a couple members of the San Marco Marines from WWII. in 1/35th scale. They served in No. Africa and wore a distinctive uniform at the time of Tobruk. Does anyone have an knowledge of what their field grade officers wore in the field? I would appreciate any details, suggestions, assistance. My only source of referrance is the Osprey, Italian Army 1940-45, Africa 1940-43. Hope someone can lend a hand...

Terry, I have something, not much but something, drop me an email ([email protected]) to get your and I'll send it.

Most in general, you might try to search for "Battaglione San Marco" on google, the first entry (http://www.btgsanmarco.it/) is an unofficial site.

If you like that subject, maybe you could find also interesting the X (Decima) Mas topic. If so, take a look at http://www.decima-mas.net/ (italian, but with a lot of pics) and http://www.regiamarina.net (english).
As you know, the Decima Mas unit was an almost indipendent unit, but most of times confused with Le Brigate Nere battalion or the Italian Waffen SS division.

Here a picture of Junio Valerio Borghese, the leader of the X Mas unit.
