  • Good quality resin is used

  • Small amount of filler will be needed when fitting arms but this is minimal
  • No major casting lines to deal with
  • Dryfitting reveals no casting flaws , matching together well

Lets rumble with the resin now

# 1.... looking at the pieces that make the actual figure up less belt and hat ( in 2nd part )

This is without doubt a seasoned fellow , perhaps the captain or maybe even the cook either way the sculpt is full of character .

Legs are wide apart with one being a wooden replacement which has some good texture on it , nice retaining straps

One legs has a folded down boot , with a pattern showing , good sculpting on the actual boo shaping and heel

Very good undercuts and folds and creases on the clothing and the cloak

Facial features are well worked with a drooping moustache and a small pointed beard , around the head a bandana , piercing eyes , straggly hair

Final parts from #1 now

There is a belt that fits cleanly into the cutout at the front of the figure's waist through which there is a pistol , not cocked (thankfully!!!) , the belt buckle is a good pattern with the details of the firing mechanism all being present ( tiny bit of flashing to take out ...easy work though!!)

Altores Pirates 1 , 2, 3 028.jpg Altores Pirates 1 , 2, 3 029.jpg

No pirate would be without a hat and this one has a very well worn one , , floppy and with one side of the brim positioned up , fitting to the head accurately ....you could of course build up the head and put the hat on the base as well.

Altores Pirates 1 , 2, 3 030.jpgAltores Pirates 1 , 2, 3 031.jpg

Obviously the way he is sculpted he needs something to sit on ....what else but a treasure chest , this has the lower part of the cloak cast onto it again good folds are there , the work on the chest has texturewith 2 hinges at the rear

Altores Pirates 1 , 2, 3 032.jpgAltores Pirates 1 , 2, 3 034.jpgAltores Pirates 1 , 2, 3 033.jpg

We now come to the base , again a good size with planking effects , there is a definition where his feet and the chest as well as the upright post fits
The post has the same good wood texture a well formed ring hanging down , at the base there is a rope arround the post itself ,,,so perhaps we are on board ship rather than a tavern!!

Onwards to the next fellow

Now to #2

Again the subject is seated and again he has a tankard in his hand!!!

The full figure is sculpted with the right arm ( less hand) and is perhaps my favourite facially with great facial hair particularly the side whiskers (similar to a movie character) ...I think this might be the ships 1st mate or bosun

Around the head a headscarf tied at the back , like the facial features , eyebrows slightly raised , mouth slightly open with a powerful body muscular on the arms and chest ...the seafaring life suits him .

However he isn't too bothered about clothing , wearing just a waistcoat , good lace pattern ...perhaps this was liberated from a clothing chest during an attack on a innocent ship , trousers are cut off and torn at the knee , showing his lower legs , I think not wearing stockings (there is a small amount of resin to sand off at the ankle), the shoes are really good particularly the buckles

Altores Pirates 1 , 2, 3 044.jpgAltores Pirates 1 , 2, 3 046.jpg

The arms have one holding a sword in a scabbard ...perhaps he is thinking of drawing it ???, really good details on both hands , the other ARM holds the tankard , the contents slightly angled ...spilling on the floor soon no doubt

There is a sword belt to fit into place on the scabbard and a small piece of sash end as well , both have some nice details on them

Altores Pirates 1 , 2, 3 050.jpgAltores Pirates 1 , 2, 3 051.jpgAltores Pirates 1 , 2, 3 053.jpg

There is also a bottle ..no doubt open and half full !!!

Altores Pirates 1 , 2, 3 052.jpg

Finally we have 2 pieces to put onto the base ...a stool and a barrel , both have very good casting and both have good wood textures

The base itself has like the previous figure planking with depressions where to put the barrel etc

On now to #3

A younger member of the crew ....perhaps a cabin boy , perhaps not called Roger ...LOL

This young seafarer has the worst job possible ...mopping up the contents on the floor ......he has probably been at sea the shortest .....perhaps to escape a rougher life on land

The crew look after him almost father like but still his clothes are ragged

A young innocent face , long hair pulled back into a pony tail , well defined hair texture , nice features m around the neck there is a large scarf again ragged and torn , as is the top he wears , this has some good folds running acrross , trousers are knee length and ragged at this point , peeking out of the shirt top is a knife scabbard ....around the waist he has a key , nice touch ...maybe it fits the treasure chest that the captain is sitting on??

legs are bare with the feet also bing the same , toes are well done with the nails being evident

For me this figure could be used in many diorama's or vignettes ...on a ships deck , in a tavern , in a kitchen scene , perhaps converted to an AWI figure with a musket ........the choice is yours !

The arms are with the shirt sleeves folded up halfway up the lower arm , one arm has a hand sculpted with it , the other is cast to the mop handle

Altores Pirates 1 , 2, 3 069.jpgAltores Pirates 1 , 2, 3 070.jpg

We have the handle and the bucket again good sculpting , the corded hadle on yhe latter sits naturally on the side.

Fit of the handle is easy , the end fitting well into the actual mop head , which itself is cast to the base

The base is the smallest of the 3 with cutouts for the feet , splits and texture in the planks are gain there

Final Thoughts

A picture heavy review from me and better to show all together , again with Altores good casting and presentation , lots of potential for these pieces both together and as a individual figure , all are available separately of course , all are good additions to the Altores catalogue
