Morning chaps!
After my extended foray into the medieval period, I thought I'd try something a bit different.
I've chosen to do one of Avanpost's fantastic 28mm resin ECW figures. Making one of those huge civil war colours is what really attracted me to get this little project underway...although I am using a ready printed flag which I will do some further work on with paint.
He is from a royalist regiment at the Battle of Edgehill in 1642. As it was the first major battle of our tragic civil war, I won't be doing much battle damage on the flag.

I've just finished the face, which was a challenge I can tell you! Really pleased with how he is coming along. Any comments most welcome as always! Regards Pete.

Thanks Nap! I admit I was quite apprehensive about doing it, especially as the face was done with the same techniques I use on larger figures. Just about got away with it!
I'll definitely check out Ken's and Marquis Minis.
Regards Pete

Looking good Pete, I have painted just a few of the 30 year war figures and was glad to get back to larger scale.
This fellow is looking good, nice face too. The detail on these figures are superb, following.
Regards.

Thanks Bob! Have a cuirassier and a trooper to do as well at some point. Cheers Pete

Excellent work so far, sometimes i also do a 28mm, can be really hard but its fun most of the time, look forward to see more.
Greetings, Stephan

Going to an ECW reinactment battle at Warwick Castle many many years a go when I was a nipper - first got me into battling with figures - excellent stuff and dont you just love the Royalist side.

Morning! Just a quick update on this little guy. I've painted my additions onto the flag- basically some edge highlighting and sharpening up the St George's Cross in the upper canton. I used vallejo acrylics which blended into the printed colours quite well. I taped the flag to an old coaster to stop any rucking up with the water being applied.
Hope your projects are going well. Regards Pete
