Made a start on the uniforms of the busts today,i thought I would start with the officer first,i have all but completed the uniform painting on this one, just some small touches to add to the epaulettes and to finish the left arm cuff,i didn't paint this piece because my finger kept rubbing against it while I was painting,so I finished everything and left this till last.
It was always my intension from the start that this officer would have an upper left arm wound, blood has been added very sparingly,i weathered the coat by blending in earth mixes while the blues were still wet.
I also just have some more to do on the hair as well.

I will add the left hand with broken sword near completion of the piece.

I've spent the last couple of days painting the muskets, all the musket work was completed using GW acrylics apart from an oil stain I used on the wood areas, the barrels of the muskets still need a little more work,i'm going to apply pencil lead on these areas.
The muskets straps I have only undercoated at this stage, these will be finished with the hands at a later sitting.

I have added some more subtle weathering to the officers jacket.

I have now undercoated the greatcoat of the 2nd bust which will be the eagle bearer in Blue No 1 from the andrea blue paint set

Thanks Brian

I really can't wait to see this completed. It's been a genuine pleasure to watch each stage in the process.
It would be great if you could set up a blog or assemble the process as a complete article on here.
This is modelling and painting at it's best, it tells a story, creates an atmosphere, and a painting style that individualises each character.
Truth be told Brian, and I know you'd agree, that there are better painters than you (not many).......BUT ......... nobody anywhere does what you do better.
You say it's just a simple way ...... no way ...... it's brilliant.
