Hi folks,

Its always great to be able to share releases from a new company and this will be one of them ...the company I am talking about is 000000.jpg

I will be reviewing others but for this one we will be looking at
0000000.jpg

What on earth possessed men to live this life , although without a doubt it must have been hard , lonesome at times and extremely dangerous risking death not only by wild animals including grizzly bears , but also by the harsh conditions particularly in winter .

Men chose this life for the rich pickings from the furs they collected , being traded and sold to buy the essentials they needed ranging from powder for the weapons to blankets and salt.

In winter temperatures were horrific reaching often way below freezing , so the trapper used some of the furs to make warm clothing including hats and coats.

These men were all characters very resolute , hard drinking at times and mostly preferring the solitude of the woods.

On now to the resin

Lets have some details:

Title: Trapper

Reference: F-54-001

Scale: 1/30 scale.

Material: Gray resin

No of pieces: 8

Sculptor - Alexander Deryabin

Boxart - Alexander Kataurov

Shipping of the review item was fast and well packed the model being held in a cardboard box with the parts in bags and sandwiched between foam pieces .
The box has nice Yellow on black lettering making it quite distinctive , the box was also sealed with another label which allows you to make sure it has reached you unopened.

Parts consist of the main figure (less arms) , 2 arms , a knife, the bag, a weapon in a cover, a duck , and a base
Trapper 002.jpg
Prep:
Main Figure...Nothing apart from fit to locating cutouts in base
Arms...Fit to main figure after cutting off tiny casting escess
Weapon/Bag/Sash end .... Remove minimal flashing and small casting remnant and fit to main figure
Duck....Small casting plug to remove and fit into centre of figure ( I suggest this is done after you have painted the main figure for easy access)
Base....Casting plug to remove and sand from edge

As you can see the prep is minimal and I am impressed at this especially from a new company ...a good start.

Looking at the pieces now:

The Main Figure , this consists of the full body including the head , our subject is well protected from the weather having full leggings with an additional fur skins over his upper torso , on his head we have a racoon style hat as seen in pictures .

Details are really good especially the surface textures , this continues all the way down , around his waist we have a sash nicely worked , around his left shoulder we have the powder horn well shaped and a utility bag , the strap for this has some really good design work on it so you could paint as beaded , the straps look like they are being worn , pulling slightly into the clothing.

On his sash we have a lovely hunting knife , beaded and with a geometrical design on the sheath.

The face is well bearded with just a small area of flesh to be see, eye details are good with a strong nose shape.

Moving onto the legs , good clothing folds with long hanging cords running down the middle of each leg on the outside, then we have the latest in trapper fashion and no doubt very welcome a fur covered pair of boot....having the same good texture as seen elsewhere.
Trapper 008.jpg

The Arms these are well posed the right elbow sitting on the weapon , with the hand hanging naturally , the left arm sits well into the body , both have great cords , these are positioned as they would be hanging correctly , I particularly liked the right arm, both hands are gloved with fur , again well textured. On now to the Sash ...sitting into the cutout with ease, long tassels at the end , adding a bit more interest to the piece. The Bag is a cracking bit of work with another design on the flap , fit is good , the Weapon is encased in a cover with just a bit of the stock showing , the covering is sculpted into the shape .
Trapper 016.jpgTrapper 016a.jpgTrapper 017.jpg

The Duck , this is fitted to the centre of the chest where you will find its feet!!, the bird hangs with its wings outspread , no doubt destined to be a welcome meal , the feathers are nicely done , all well defined making the painting easier .

Trapper 018a.jpg

Now to the final piece ..the Base a perfectly useable piece textured and with rocks cropping the surface , either use on its own or as part of a larger base.
