Ive decided to start a project that I put to one side a couple of years ago as back then I didn't feel comfortable with the idea, now ive had some fresh ideas and ive been busily converting and sculpting away these last couple of weeks.
If it hadn't been for my uncle who was a colour Sergeant in the marines,i doubt if I would ever have got into modeling at all.
Back in 1971 during his final years in the marines he was posted in Portsmouth and was given the job of showing people around HMS Victory,i had many happy holidays down there staying with them and was fortunate enough to visit the Victory on many occasions along with my uncle, another fortunate thing for me was I got some preferential treatment,so I was able to be taken into parts of the ship which were not accessable to the general public, although I am a huge waterloo fanatic,Trafalgar and Horatio Nelson hold a very special place in my heart.
I always wanted to do a busterama involving 2 or 3 marines fighting at Trafalgar,i thought about it for many months, and now I'm up for it,there is not much about in the bust market depicting (Napoleonic) royal marines,so I needed to buy some commercial busts which I could use and convert.
I have opted for 3x marines in the scene, one will be an officer.
I have included some very early pictures of the project so far, recently my focus has been on converting the heads, ive managed to create what I was hoping for in this area.
As I said, its in the very early stages at present, there is a long way to go before the paint brushes come out.

Excellent package you have brewing there Brian. I used to sculpt, and I used to visualize myself in what I was sculpting to try and get a feeling as if the piece was actually me. I don't know what you started with and are reworking, but I was just curious if you use that mental process. Looks very good though so keep it going.

Wayne

Looks like another belter pal!
Good on ya for keeping at the hobby.
To much sunshine up here in Cumbria at present to do anything but stay outside.... I have no doubt that will change ;)
Cheers and keep us posted.
