Hi all. I haven't posted anything on here for ages but I reckoned this one was worthy of a thread. I got it from Gordon a few weeks ago (thanks @Grod) and have been working on him for the last few days.

First of all the parts out of the box:

Then assembled and undercoated. I wasn't too keen on the sword knot so made a new one from wine bottle foil and a bit of miliput.

Will look the biz when done especially if you do others in the set

I do agree with Marc if for no other reason than to soften the hard edges of his clothing and gloves hands act.

Thanks guys. After a bit more cleaning up I started on the base colours. I mostly used acrylics. - Vallejo, Humbrol and Revell. The Rifle Green is a mix of 970 deep green mixed with a bit of black. I started off giving him green trousers as well but didn't like the lack of contrast so changed them to grey.

Also made a start on shading etc. More to follow.

Only my opinion but I prefer the trousers in the green, I think you could create enough contrast to make it work.

Thanks chaps! In the end I decided to stick with grey for the trousers, I don't know why but green trousers look fine for other ranks of the 95th but look odd on an officer. Next I tackled his face. For this I used enamels as they're easier to blend. I mixed a base from Humbrol British Crimson, flesh and leather brown. Then added more flesh and a little white for the highlights, with a bit of chocolate brown for the deep shadows.

I'm calling this one done though I think he needs a bit of dullcote in places. He looks fine under normal light but the flash makes him look a bit shiny. A proper photo booth and a decent camera might help too!

Cheers chaps! And yes, he was done quickly. Apart from one night when I had to work late I think he was done in three days. Absolutely supersonic for me. To be honest I was hoping it would take me a while longer, I need to find another project now!
