or, 'no colours anymore, I want it to turn black'? ;)

Sorry kagemusha, really opened the thread to look and learn from your modelling, just couldn't resist. Definitely don't let this turn black!

Have begun to layer in the first shades of colour...using my usual transparent oils...I created heavily thinned 'glazes'...which were applied by using capillary action and the textures of each surface which...in effect...does most of the work for you :sneaky:

Will let this dry then put in the next layers of colours...then I can do the two pieces of ruin and get them in place...then focus on bringing out the wealth of detail in the walls and ruins...with the foliage to follow from there.

to be continued.......

Hi Ron

Awesome already , the details on the Walls look great and you say your going to focus more ...WOW!!

Mark is looking down with a massive smile on his face

Thanks for sharing

Happy benchtime

Next stage in the scenic base...
Have applied a few more layers of colour on the stonework...fixed the two pieces of ruin in place...and made the vines either side of the steps from dried roots and ground herbs...then made the sapling on the upper level...again using the same technique and materials...also added a few clumps of weeds/grass here and there...

IMG_5270.JPGIMG_5271.JPGIMG_5272.JPGIMG_5273.JPGIMG_5274.JPGIMG_5275.JPGIMG_5276.JPGIMG_5277.JPGIMG_5278.JPG

Once all this has dried I will introduce some colour/foliage to the vines and sapling...then start placing some ferns and small bushes...which should bring it nicely to the figure painting stage :)

to be continued.......

Amazing work and coming together at a steady pace, a great example in producing groundwork, looking forward now to the figure painting, plenty of different techniques required with those 2 fellas and again a chance to learn something in the fantasy department a place where I don't normally venture.

Glad you like it Terry...still some things to tidy up on the base...but hopefully will be onto the figures fairly soon...a real challenge not to lose them amongst the scenery :sneaky:

Well...here at last is the final (I hope) update on the scenic base...last of the foliage added and detailed...as well as last layer of hi lites.
Rather picture intensive...but a lot of detail to see...

Hopefully a suitable 'stage' on which to set the figures.

to be continued.......
