Hello everyone,

This is a rather unusual figure in that it was produced by Perry Miniatures who’s usual business is to produce 28mm war games figures, which are very, very good I might add. This model seems to be a one off venture into a larger scale. The figure actually depicts their 5x Great Grandfather who fought in the West Indies and the Peninsula. Because The Perry’s deal in the smaller scales this figure hasn’t appeared in any promotions allied to our interests, at least as far as I am aware, so I don’t suppose many will be aware of its existence. Hope you like it.

Terry

A nice paintjob... and, yes, a nice fig that been around for some time.

The amazing backstory is that the Perry brothers (who sculpt their own 28mm metals and plastics as well as for Foundry and Games Workshop) came across their 5x great grandfather's pistol on a US site. This was a day after they'd first they'd heard of him.

They now own the pistol :)

If you want to play around with some of their 28mm plastic figs (to my eyes fantastic for their size) you can get odd sprues from Perry or several eBay dealers (who I assume buy full sets then break them down). At as little as £1 for two infantry figs, £4 for two horsemen... or £8 for a yummy 14 man Nap command section (from Perry) they're well worth the change from larger scales- great for small scale dioramas ... that is if your eyesight can stand up to it o_O

Great artwork & a nice backstory re. the pistol, Terry. It's also nice to see the 45th (Nottinghamshire) Regiment depicted in the form of a figure - my late father served in 2/5th Sherwood Foresters in WW2, & I served 3 years as a Territorial in 3 WFR(V) before & after Regular Army service.

Neat job Terry, and an interesting bit of background. I have a couple of the Perrys' books, which are very useful reference. Their 28mm stuff is first class and in my opinion a good way to get youngsters away from WH40k and into proper history. Love the story about the pistol too - how good is that!

Many tanks for all your generous comments guys. Re the Perry’s figures, I have painted many of them over the years and can testify to their quality. I am currently in the process of creating a diorama using their figures. It will be the charge of the Scots Greys at Waterloo, very cliched I know but it’s something I’ve always wanted to do since boyhood. It will include Ponsonby, his aide, the Commanding Major of the regiment and at least a couple of dozen troopers, I will also try and weave in Sgt Ewart capturing the French Eagle. I will post some images when finished.

Thanks again
